Letters to the Editor

Editor:

Candace Chellew’s article, Be Here Now, is one of the best I have ever read about God and suffering. My sister Liz and I talk about this subject all the time. I have told her about your site and hope she will read your piece. My expectations of God have been all screwed up over the years and my sister and I have been learning not to have expectations.

I found your site by reading your interview with Philip Yancey, who is my favorite Christian author.

I discovered you in January 2007 when God first spoke to me about coming out of my closet to myself, and for the first time in my life began to feel accepting of myself as lesbian. Thank you.

I have been aware of my transsexual identity since I was 11-years-old. I want to transition but I can’t. I have been looking for a Christian web site like this because I need God’s help in my struggles. I like the tone and approach taken here. This is what I have been looking for years.

Editor:

I just wanted to thank you for all you have done in both nourishing the souls of Christians from all walks of life, and educating us in how to better answer those who would mistakenly condemn our homosexual/transgendered brothers and sisters.

As a man who has recently converted to Christianity, I feel so blessed to have been directed to your website and your study material. I just wanted you to know that I am thankful for all you have done and I pray for your continued success in inspiring others as you have me.

Yours in Christ, Will

Editor:

I don’t have much to say about what could improve the site (aside from maybe providing a few more links for networking among GLBT Christians so that we all stand a fighting chance of finding a safe community of faith where we live).

All I really wanted to express was how profoundly this site and its messages have affected my life and my faith, both of which were in dark places not so very long ago. I’d like to thank Candace and everyone involved in this project for providing the resources, support, and most importantly the affirmation that so many need and would have been utterly lost without.

Let no one tell you that what you are doing is not God’s own work. Thank you, and God bless.

Emily
