Mom Says I'm Going to Hell
Rev. Turner:Hi my name is Edgar and I have been going through a lot of emotional stress. My mother is telling me that I am being bothered by demons and that I have to stop believing the demons that are telling me that I am gay and just believe that I am straight. I wish it was that simple. Can you please help me. I wish there was some way I could get rid of the guilt feelings I have. She scared me when she says I can go to hell for this. What do I do? Please help me. I haven't slept in about three days or eaten.
Edgar
Dear Edgar,
Your Mother (God love her) is wrong. You are a creation of God! God is
not going to send you to hell for loving someone of the same gender.
Further, homosexuality has always existed. It is a part of God's creation.
God is not going to create something, call it good, and then destroy it.
There are many places on the web you can go to find out for yourself
that indeed God loves you just the way you are. Two of the best places are:
Both these sites contain a ton of information concerning homosexuality,
the Bible and God. They will also link you to many other sources. My child
of God, do not feel guilty, but rather get some sleep, eat a good meal and
then go about finding out for yourself that indeed you are safe and secure
in the arms of Jesus the Christ.
Keep these two pieces of scripture with you as you journey:
You love God? You have accepted Jesus the Christ as your Savior? Then
my friend do not fear but rather rejoice, for with Christ you have overcome
the world!
God bless,
"What may we say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
He who did not keep back his only Son, but gave him up for us all, will he
not with him freely give us all things?
Who will say anything against the saints of God? It is God who makes us
clear from evil;
Who will give a decision against us? It is Christ Jesus who not only was put
to death, but came again from the dead, who is now at the right hand of God,
taking our part.
Who will come between us and the love of Christ? Will trouble, or pain, or
cruel acts, or the need of food or of clothing, or danger, or the sword?
As it is said in the holy Writings, Because of you we are put to death every
day; we are like sheep ready for destruction.
But we are able to overcome all these things and more through his love.
For I am certain that not death, or life, or angels, or rulers, or things
present, or things to come, or powers,
Or things on high, or things under the earth, or anything which is made,
will be able to come between us and the love of God which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord."
--Romans 8:31-39" For God had such love for the world that he gave his only Son, so that
whoever has faith in him may not come to destruction but have eternal life."
--John 3:16
