What personal data we collect and why we collect it
This is a WordPress website, and as such, it does not intentionally collect any personal information about visitors. For registered users of this site, the data shown on the User Profile screen is collected. Registered users include named authors of the site’s content; for these users, who have volunteered to be identified in conjunction with their contributions to the website, the only personal information collected is their name or pseudonym. Some site content is attributed to “Anonymous” at the contributor’s request.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
This website’s contact forms employ Google reCAPTCHA technology; Google’s Privacy & Terms are here: https://policies.google.com
If you subscribe to our newsletter you submit your email address and (optionally) your first name and last name and give us the right to contact you by email. We use the data stored in the registration for the newsletter exclusively for our newsletter and do not pass this on.
If you unsubscribe from the newsletter — you will find the link in each newsletter at the bottom — then we delete all data that was saved with the registration for the newsletter.
We send out newsletters with MailChimp and use features of the MailChimp newsletter service of The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308 USA to record newsletter subscriptions.
General information about MailChimp
Newsletter Sign up
When you sign up for our newsletter on our website, the data entered will be stored by MailChimp.
Deletion of your data
You can withdraw your consent to receive our newsletter at any time within the received e-mail by clicking on the link at the bottom. If you have unsubscribed by clicking on the unsubscribe link, your data will be deleted at MailChimp.
When you receive a newsletter via MailChimp, information such as IP address, browser type and e-mail program are stored to give us information about the performance of our newsletter. MailChimp can use the images in the HTML emails called Web Beacons (see kb.mailchimp.com/reports/about-open-tracking for details) to see if the email has arrived, whether it was opened and if links were clicked. All this information is stored on the servers of MailChimp, not on this website.
MailChimp data processing agreement
We have a contract with MailChimp for Data Processing Addendum. This agreement secures your personal information and ensures that MailChimp adheres to applicable privacy policies and does not share your personal information with third parties. More information about this contract can be found at mailchimp.com/legal/forms/data-processing-agreement/.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google, Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, www.google.com (“Google Analytics” or “Google”). Google Analytics employs cookies that are stored to your computer in order to facilitate an analysis of your use of the site. The information generated by these cookies, such as time, place and frequency of your visits to our site, including your IP address, is transmitted to Google’s location in the US and stored there.
In doing so, Google abbreviates and thereby anonymizes your IP address before transferring it from EU/EEA member states. Google uses this information to analyze your use of our site, to compile reports for us on internet activity and to provide other services relating to our website.
Google Analytics also uses electronic images known as web beacons (sometimes called single pixel gifs) and are used along with cookies to compile aggregated statistics to analyze how our site is used.
You can find additional information on how to install the browser add-on referenced above at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
For the cases in which personal data is transferred to the US, Google has self-certified pursuant to the EU-US Privacy Shield (https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework).
Who we share your data with
We do not share any personal data with anyone beyond what is publicly visible on this website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
