In her new book Christianity After Religion: The End of Church and the Birth of a New Spiritual Awakening, Bass says we are at a crossroads in history. We can choose to move forward into new emerging spiritualities, or we can heed the siren sound of the traditionalists calling us back to a romanticized past where rigid roles have offered security for the powerful and the status quo for everyone else.
