“And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.”
— Matthew 10:30-32
Don’t you just love it when God shows you the most startling revelations? I’ve been going through some stuff lately, and I know that the reason I am going through it is because God wants to get me to the point where I can do what He wants me to do. God wants to remind me that it is all about him. However, that does not mean that God is not thinking about us. It does not mean that He is not looking out for us, and has our best interest at heart. Fortunately for us God looking out for our best interests is a lot better for us than us looking out for ourselves.
Unfortunately, sometimes when God is curing us, it hurts. Speaking as a parent, I can say that watching your beloved child go through something painful can be just as painful to the parent. But as a parent I know that sometimes children have to go through things that are painful in order to be whole again. There have been several times over the life span of my children that I have had to tell them that I know it hurts, but it would make it less painful later on. God knows what we go through. He knows why we go through it. He also knows that we will come out of it stronger and as a result healthier. The other day, God gave me this word while we were singing the song, “Heart of Worship.”
Don’t you know it’s all about worth? It’s about your worth. What you are worth to me, which is everything. I’ve been trying to show you this for such a long time. I am sorry that it had to hurt so much before I could show you, but I had to rip open the old wounds. I had to tear off the old scabs and seal up the old scars. You can heal now. Your heart can be whole again because now you will realize just how much you mean to me. King of endless worth? Yes I am, but you are my child so how much more valuable does that make you?
This may seem like it is pretty self-serving to you, but it means the world to me. It is also a good example of how personal and individual God is with us. He knew I was hurting, and He knew I needed reassurance. Sure any one of my brothers and sisters could give me some scriptures that tell me how much I mean to God, but sometimes it just has to come from Him. Sometimes we say to one another, if God did it for David, or Moses, or whoever then he will do it for us. If God can speak to me personally about why I am going through then that means he is looking out for each and everyone of us individually. So if you are going through something then take it to God. He will tell you, because you are worth much more than many sparrows.
